It’s September and we’d usually expect the weather to be getting colder as the nights draw in and winter approaches, instead of the surprise heatwave we’re about to be treated to here in the UK.
But even without the late appearance of the summer sun tempting us all back to the beaches at the end of September, it’s far too early for many of us to be thinking about Christmas and New Years Eve… let alone Valentine’s Day, which is still 170 days away yet!!
Many businesses have to start thinking about these periods much, much earlier than those of us who head out last minute to do our Christmas shopping in the last few days running up to the holidays, as there’s much to be done if they are to catch as many of us as they can in their festive marketing nets.
At KeebleSmith we work closely with our clients to understand their marketing strategies and schedules, and we start work as early as we’re allowed to, in order to ensure there is plenty of time to plan and prepare updates to their websites, online marketing promotions, social networking and email campaigns.
In many cases work is completed weeks or even months ahead of a promotion’s intended start date. And we can build in scheduled promotional solutions to our clients’ websites and e-commerce stores, allowing promotions to be scheduled for an exact time and date if required.
At Coles Restaurant in Marlborough, they begin taking Christmas booking enquiries at the beginning of September for the many family and company Christmas parties they will host. New menus, additional information and signposts are all needed throughout the website.
These are all designed and built throughout the summer months, updates are completed when the menus are finalised and everything is made ready to be switched on at the exact date Coles want to begin promoting and accepting Christmas bookings.
Soon after, New Year’s Eve promotions will appear. And then as if by magic while everyone is still recovering from mince pies and Christmas pudding, Valentines Day promotions will take centre stage, right on cue.
Much as we might hate seeing Christmas adverts on TV at the end of July (or even earlier in some cases!) even those businesses who are a little more ‘current’ with their promotions need to plan as early as possible to get the best exposure and capture as much of the seasonal business as they can.
